Our latest partnership pairs us with Kaitlynn Carter who is in the midst of renovating a historic house, transforming it into a modern home full of character and charm. Throughout this blog, she shares her experiences and the valuable role Nostalgic Warehouse door hardware played in bringing her vision to life. Read about Kaitlynn's insights, inspiration, and practical tips, and how this partnership was an integral part of her renovation story.
Kaitlynn Carter's journey began back in 2009 when she started a travel blog to keep her family updated on her study abroad experience. Little did she know that this humble beginning would eventually evolve into a public lifestyle blog in 2014. Fast forward nearly ten years, and Kaitlynn has accomplished so much more than she could have ever imagined. From hosting a podcast to speaking on social media and fashion panels, starring on a reality TV show, and starting a family, her audience has been there every step of the way.
Now, Kaitlynn is taking on a new challenge - renovating the first home she's ever owned. The house, built in 1923, needed a complete overhaul to fit the needs of a modern family. Starting with the ground floor, Kaitlynn and her family have been working hard to transform the space into a comfortable and functional home. One of the most challenging parts of the renovation was creating an ensuite master bath from a room with no storage, a large attached laundry room, and a tiny powder room. It took a lot of creativity and hard work, but Kaitlynn and her family were up for the task.
When choosing the hardware for the project, Kaitlynn was drawn to the vintage feel of Nostalgic Warehouse's products. The hardware added a touch of authenticity to the home and perfectly complemented its style. Looking to the future, Kaitlynn is already considering using Nostalgic Warehouse hardware in other areas of the house. She plans to convert the garage into an ADU and wants to ensure that the hardware throughout the space matches seamlessly.
Although the project is far from complete, Kaitlynn and her family have already made significant progress. They moved into the house in August 2023, and while there are still cosmetic changes to be made, they are excited about the journey ahead.
For Kaitlynn, inspiration often comes from the historic homes in her neighborhood. The architectural features and unique designs are a constant wellspring of creativity and ideas for her own home. As for advice to others looking to take on a similar project, Kaitlynn recommends tackling the main living spaces before moving in and breaking the renovation into stages. She also emphasizes the impact of small details like hardware, lighting, and paint in transforming a space.
With her current home keeping her busy, Kaitlynn doesn't have any other properties or projects on the horizon. However, she's open to the idea of taking on a similar challenge in the future. As for what's next, Kaitlynn is focused on finalizing the finishes for the master bath shower space and painting the rest of their cute picket fence. With each step, she's bringing her vision for her home to life.
