Courtney Vettel has been renovating a stunning historic 1885 Victorian home in Deadwood, South Dakota, and we are pleased to work with her once again on the interior hardware. The Victorian on Van Buren was featured in a previous blog of ours, where viewers were treated to peeks of Victorian hardware accents and brass cabinet hardware details. For this update, Courtney added Nostalgic Warehouse products in the carriage house to bring on the charm of the lovely Victorian on Van Buren.
Please give us an update on The Vettel Farm ongoings.
The Vettel Farm is alive and well! The blog still features all things collecting, cooking, creating, and crafting. Everything from vintage-style recipes to do-it-yourself vintage projects and restoring historical treasures and homes is all housed on the blog. Daily projects are shared through fun videos and photography on Instagram and TikTok @thevettelfarm.
How did you choose the hardware featured in this project? What attracted you to Nostalgic Warehouse?
For this project, we chose our hardware to coordinate with the home's history. This project was a carriage house to the historic 1880 Folk Victorian, so we wanted to continue with that Victorian style. Nostalgic Warehouse has the BEST selection of hardware for every type of home. The craftsmanship and history that Nostalgic Warehouse has within its products are unmatched by any other.
How long did this project take to complete?
This project took us approximately 4 months to complete. The space was rough in the beginning, but it came together beautifully!
Did you learn any new tips and tricks about cabinet hardware along the way that you think would be beneficial for others?
I often think cabinet hardware is a small detail that often gets overlooked, but it is crucial. Cabinet hardware's finish and design play an important role in kitchen looks.
What attracted you to purchase this house in Deadwood, SD?
This home had so much character! Often, many exceptional details in a historic home can get lost over the years. Our house had all the original trim, amazing hardwood flooring, built-ins, fretwork, and so on. Finding a home with all those historical elements was special; we knew it was worth the time and effort to bring this Victorian beauty back to life.
Are you working on any other properties or projects?
Yes! We are looking for another historic property to bring back to life. In the meantime, I have another fun restoration project coming up this Fall.
What do you predict will be a hot interior trend in the coming future?
Incorporating vintage elements into home design has been a rising trend. I believe it will continue to grow leaps and bounds. Utilizing antique or vintage elements in your home lends so much charisma that you cannot find in new items. Nostalgic Warehouse blends this concept wonderfully as its products offer that "vintage" feel paired with the ease of a new product that works seamlessly.
What is next?
As I mentioned, I am starting a new project very soon, and I will be restoring a historic schoolhouse! This past Spring, we moved a 100-year-old schoolhouse to our property to begin bringing it back to life. It has many outstanding historical elements, including a 20-foot-long chalkboard!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
It is always such a pleasure working with Nostalgic Warehouse. Their attention to detail and customer service are profound!
Once again, thank you to Courtney for sharing her beautiful Victorian with us!
