Please give us some more details on Style Meets Home.
Stylemeetshome started with a desire to share what I was doing as a stay-at-home mom of three little ones. I doubted myself for a long time but pushed the negative thoughts aside and just went for it. It's now become much more than I even thought it could be.
How did/do you choose a house to buy and renovate?
We initially moved here because it was a street from my brother and sister-in-law's home, and we have a very close-knit family. We also wanted to put our touch on a home, so finding one with good bones in a location we wanted made it the perfect fit.
Did you remodel your entire home? If so, were there specific rooms that were more challenging than others?
We bought our home in 2006. We saw it as a nice, starter-style home with good bones and potential. Over the past five years, we've nearly touched every part of our home with some sort of DIY update. However, this year, we still have a few areas that will become completely transformed! Of all the spaces we've tackled, the kitchen was by far the most challenging but also the most rewarding.
How did you choose the hardware featured in this project? What attracted you to Nostalgic Warehouse?
When starting our kitchen makeover, I had a vision in mind for the country/European look and felt the unique oval-shaped unlacquered brass cabinet knobs would be the perfect touch. We went with the Homestead cabinet knob with a Classic cabinet rosette. Tiny little details usually end up pulling the whole look together, and this hardware sure added the finishing touch!
Will you use this hardware again in other projects/areas of your home? If so, why?
Absolutely, YES! The quality is unlike any other I've ever tried. It’s also quite beautiful!
Did you learn any tips and tricks about cabinet hardware that would benefit others?
It may not be a "new" trick, but an absolute must was using tape over the spot where we drilled the holes for the hardware. It left the hole clean on both sides, making adding the hardware a perfect fit.
What is your design style, and how do you incorporate those decorating decisions within your home?
It's constantly growing, but I stay consistent with a European/Organic look and feel.
Where do you find design inspiration?
My go-to is anything by Amber Lewis’s Amber Interiors. Her style is comfortable and effortless, something I'm always working to achieve in my own style.
Many people want to take on large remodeling projects. What are some recommendations for readers who wish to do an extensive remodel project?
Prioritize. I typically take on a project when needed. I'm always looking for ways to make our family's home run smoother, and making that a priority helps me narrow down which project to start first.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
If you want to start anything in life, take the first step today and be consistent. Those are the exact steps I took to start my IG platform. What started as a hobby has become a full-blown business and a source of income for our family. It wouldn't have happened if I had listened to my fears and not taken the first step.
