Crystal of Crystal Ann Interiors recently partnered up with a few other Utah designers to renovate her aunt's 40+-year-old kitchen. Because her aunt is a hard-working single mom who continues to put others first, Crystal was inspired to give her a new space to show her admiration and appreciation for her. What inspired this project?
I was inspired to pull this design together for a very deserving single mom of four boys that has struggled with health complications. I wanted her to come home to a very calming, warm-designed home after work every day.
How long did this project take to complete?
This kitchen renovation project took three months from start to finish, including planning, ordering products, and executing the design.
How did you choose the cabinet hardware featured in this project? What attracted you to Nostalgic Warehouse?
I fell in love with the unique look of polished brass cabinet hardware and how it stands out against the crisp white cabinets. It is timeless and excellent quality!
How do you incorporate your design style within your home?
My style is transitional with touches of modern vintage. I love mixing styles by taking clean, modern furniture and adding vintage frames and old charming details such as ceiling medallions and old unique pieces found at thrift stores. Nothing is better than mixing the old with the new, which makes for a timeless look.
Where do you find design inspiration?
I get my inspiration from New York City. When we lived there, I loved window shopping and walking around, seeing the architectural details in many design trends (like arched doorways and brownstone windows).
How do you organize and plan your design projects?
I use a planner to write down all that needs to be done and make notes for each room. I also like to have boards on Pinterest for inspiration for each space and room as well.
What are some tips for readers who want to make a simple transformation in their home?
If you're unable to do a complete reno, that's okay! Easy updates such as paint, new hardware, and lighting can go a long way!
Please, give us some more details on your business, Crystal Ann Interiors. How did you develop it, and what sets it apart from the rest?
I started Crystal Ann Interiors shortly after I graduated college and became a mom. I was very young and didn't know what I was doing, but I was determined never to give up on my passion and creative outlet. The longer I continue making time to do what I love, the more it becomes a part of who I am. The balance of being a wife, mom, and business owner isn't easy, but what sets me apart is that I have my unique style. My goal is also to show that you can make any size home both FUNCTIONAL and BEAUTIFUL.
